Meet my Uterus
* This is not mine, but this is exactly how it looks like on the screen.
For the first time in my 25 years of life, I met my uterus. She looks so gorgeous! Before I made the HSG test, the nurse at Ampang Putri told me that a male doctor will do the test, so she asked me whether I am comfortable or not. I told her, i don't mind. When I was on the examining table...mmm...whatever they call it, the doctor was doing his job, injecting the speculum filled with dye inside my uterus, my eyes were stunned at the x-ray screen, where i could see my beautiful fallopian tubes and uterus. I could see the fluid flowed smoothly inside the tubes and filled my uterus...and it spilled nicely, no blockage at all! Alhamdulillah, I praised to GOD the Almighty that I have a healthy ones! The pain was like you are having period cramps but it doesn't last for so long. Despite all the stories that I heard before, it is not that bad. Below are some details of how the test is done:
(For more info, visit http://www.greenvilleradiology.com/procedures/generalradiology/hysterosalpinography.htm)
Q. How exactly is the procedure performed?
A. You lie on a firm examining table, with your hips elevated by a pillow or two towels. Alternatively, some tables have installed stirrups.
A speculum is inserted into the vagina
The cervix and vagina are dabbed with an antiseptic
A small amount of local anesthetic is injected into the cervix. (This does not hurt)
A clip is placed on the numbed area of the cervix and a catheter inserted into the cervix.
The speculum is removed
The fluoroscope (x-ray device) is placed over the abdomen
The dye is slowly injected into the uterus and x-ray images are recorded.
As the dye spills from the fallopian tubes, you may be asked to lean to one side or the other.
When the initial x-rays are complete, the instruments are removed.
You may be asked to roll complete 360 degree turn prior to a final x-ray.

Hysterosalpingogram
I've fixed a date with a private hospital to do this test. I went to Ampang Putri. Before that I have to do some other hormone test - FSH & LH test at LPPKN. With the results, baru I can proceed to the HSG test.
What is a Hysterosalpingogram?
A hysterosalpingogram is a fertility test used to detect uterine and fallopain health. The HSG test uses x-ray technology to create a picture of the uterus and fallopian tubes. When you undergo an HSG test, colored dye is injected into you uterus. This dye then travels up through the fallopian tubes and out into the abdominal cavity. The HSG allows your health care provider to determine if there is any damage to your reproductive system.
Follicle Stimulating Hormone
What is FSH?FSH is just one of a number of hormones that is secreted by your brain. Inside your brain, located just at the base of your neck, there is a tiny region called the pituitary gland. This gland is responsible for releasing a variety of different hormones, including FSH. FSH hormone is used to help encourage the growth of eggs in women and sperm in men. Without FSH, neither males nor females would be able to procreate.
Luteinizing Hormone
What is Luteinizing Hormone(LH)?Luteneizing hormone is a hormone produced in both men and women. It is secreted from a small gland, callled the pituitary gland, which is located in the brain. A type of gonadatropin (because it stimulates the gonads), LH is necessary for fertility. In women, LH helps regulate ovulation and turn empty follicles into corpus luteum. In men, LH helps the testes to make and secrete testosterone.

UPT, STA?
After recorded my details at the counter, the lovely Misi (I can't remember her name...but she's really sweet) asked me to empty my bladder coz she wanted to do the Urine Pregnancy Test (UPT). Just to check whether I was pregnant or not...prosedur diorang la tu. So, Boyoi and I tunggu la result dekat lab. I told my husband...I guarantee the result would be negative...told ya!
human chorionic gonadotropin n. Abbr. HCG A hormone produced by the placenta that maintains the corpus luteum during pregnancy.
Lepas tu, buat test STA...aku lupa la test apa.....but anyway, in order to continue my infertility test ni, I have to wait for my period to come coz the test can only be done during menstrual cycle.
So, tunggulah period datang...ntah bila la agaknya bulan nak mengambang....

First step...where it all began
"Does not man recall that We created him before when he was not anything?"(Surah Maryam: 67)
After 2 years of marriage, we're still 'single'...in another words - no signs of 'family extention'. We both were so busy at work, {working in the design & advertising field...esp. in production line, you seriously will cherish your bed and pillows}stressed out...I might say or may be it just isn't time yet. Nevertheless, with the advice of our family, especially mama, Boyoi and I decided to undergo the fertility treatment. I love my hubby for being so open about this whole thing!!!
So, began our findings for the infertility centre that can offer us a good and affordable services. I found out about LPPKN (Lembaga Penduduk dan Pembangunan Keluarga Negara) - www.lppkn.gov.my, which offers a very affordable fees for the treatment and reliable services. The only thing you have to give and take is to be waited. You can't just pop inside the room and go straight to see the doctor. This is a government clinic, jadi you have to register your name few months ahead.
I registered late last year 2006...after Syawal I guess...and my treatment only started at the end of January.....yupp, tunggulah turn anda dengan penuh sabar. I will explain my first treatment in the next post. Got to finish up some works!
